Suspect in St. Johnsbury shooting faces murder charges

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The 15-year-old suspect in a St. Johnsbury shooting death faces second-degree murder charges.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.

38-year-old Christina Chatlos, originally from Williamstown and Barre, was found dead in a car parked off Portland Street in St. Johnsbury on Jan. 23.

According to investigators, 15-year-old Mohamad Said of Springfield, Massachusetts shot and killed Chatlos after a drug deal gone wrong.

Police say Said was charged with second-degree murder and was taken into custody in Massachusetts on a Vermont warrant.

He is to appear in Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury by video call Monday afternoon.

If convicted, he could face 20 years to life behind bars.
