BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Queen City was decked out in green as people celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.
“I love St. Patrick’s day I think it’s super fun I think it’s an underrated holiday,” Burlington resident Sarah Bassett said.
People of all ages came together to watch the 39th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Concrete Mixer Parade Fundraiser.
“It was nice to like to see a bunch of families and community members come out on church street and seeing all like the younger children and the trucks, so it was a cool experience and very family friendly,” South Burlington resident Alexis Klein said.
“It was really cool, it was definitely really loud, but I’m from Boston so it was cool to have somewhat of a St. Patrick’s day here in Burlington,” Bassett said.
And for some it was their first time.
“Well honestly this is my first time ever watching the parade and so I’m excited to see it,” Burlington resident Lavera Allen said.
Each year in honor St. Patrick’s Day, the S.D. Ireland family parades over 15 over their cement trucks down marketplace.
“Well, the parade is the people I mean you look around everybody’s having a good time and just to have a good time and just to have a good time and so many people laughing and kids out isn’t that wonderful,” Burlington resident David Krag said.
“I’m just getting with friends and family and dressing up in green and have fun, have a beer if you want, yeah, lots of fun to go out to eat and just enjoy laughs,” Allen said.
Some say it’s fun just to get outside and enjoy what Burlington has to offer.
“I think also just going to Ri Ra’s probably the best because it’s like the only Irish pub around here so like everybody goes there and it’s really great atmosphere and they have a lot of local Irish bands and a lot of great foods so that’s probably the best thing to do around here,” Klein said.
