WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – Enrollment is up at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction and across the country.

According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, 580 Vermont veterans enrolled in the VA health care system over the past 365 days. That’s more than a nine percent increase over last year. Officials attribute the rising numbers to expanded benefits under the PACT Act.

“It is great for the future of our health care system here in Vermont and New Hampshire that as many veterans choose VA as possible. The more veterans that come here, the bigger and better services that we are going to be able to provide for the next 15 to 20 years,” said WRJ VA Executive Director, Brett Rusch.

The White River Junction VA serves between 25,000 and 28,000 veterans every year. Nationally, VA enrollment is up 30%.
