BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Making sure the movers and shakers in Vermont are behaving ethically, all the way down to the local level.

A bill just passed the House that would create a standardized municipal code of ethics statewide.

Municipalities would also be able to create stricter codes of ethics under the bill.

It would require local leaders to get training from the Ethics Commission every three years and generally increase communication between towns and the Ethics Commission.

The bill now goes to the Senate.
