MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Over 1,200 Vermont home contractors have signed up for a mandatory statewide registry.

Home contractors doing work over $10,000 projects have to sign on under a 2022 law aimed at protecting consumers from fraudsters.

Officials with the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation say 1,232 people have signed up. They also say fines will be levied against delinquent businesses after investigations and a public hearing.
