Saturday deadline for CSWD eclipse glasses collection

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Time is running out for folks to bring eclipse glasses to a drop-off center for recycling.

The Chittenden Solid Waste District expects to get around 80,000 glasses by Saturday’s deadline. They will then ship them to the group Astronomers Without Borders.

“The response has been really, really exciting. We are just jazzed up to see so many schools and businesses and libraries and towns sign up to be collection sites, contact us, come down and bring their solar glasses. It’s been really, really fun to see the response to this program,” said CSWD’s Beth Parent.

If your solar eclipse glasses aren’t in the best condition, you can throw out the film lenses and recycle the paper frames.
