BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Spring is here – and for many of us, the urge to deep clean your home comes with it. Vermont’s DEC wants to make sure you don’t harm the environment while cleaning out.

As spring cleaning kicks off, Vermont’s Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding people to keep hazardous materials out of the trash.

Things like old TVs, fluorescent bulbs, mercury thermostats, batteries, and paint should go to special recycling locations.

Hazardous waste should go to household hazardous waste facilities.

You can check out the DEC’s spring cleaning guide for more information.
