WILMINGTON, N.Y. (WCAX) – This past winter’s unpredictable weather has proved to be a challenge for many skiers, but the variable conditions haven’t stopped one North Country man from hitting the slopes.
Lincoln Riddle from Plattsburgh has hit the slopes 126 days this past ski season, and he’s still going.
“A ski area opened up just outside of Montreal and I got off work and said, you know what, I am going to go ski. It is November 2, now is the perfect time,” Riddle said.
Riddle has documented every trip, uploading all of the videos to social media, where people keep track of the many mountains he traverses from New York to Vermont. “It’s like a journal. It is really cool to look back on and follow seasons, see what the snow was like, see what the conditions were like, what was open,” Riddle said.
And on top of recording his runs, Riddle says he also created a Facebook group with his friend known as Whiteface Conditions, a group he says continues to grow. “It was just like me and his family, so there were like five of us in this group and now it is up to 4,000 people,” he said. A following he says is unexpected and inspiring.
Reporter Alek LaShomb: Does it ever get old?
Lincoln Riddle: After 126 days I still want more. I am not done. I do not want this season to end and unfortunately, Mother Nature is going to force it to end, but I am gonna ride it out until there is nothing left or I am unable to keep going this year.
And when that happens, Riddle says he’ll have his sights set on the next gargantuan feat. “I am really hoping to build that community aspect next year, maybe ski more days, we will just have to see,” he said.
Riddle plans to hit Jay Peak this weekend.
