BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington Country Club is celebrating a century.

Golfers kicked off the festivities, hitting links the links at 10 Friday morning after a frost delay.

The members-only club says they have events planned all season to celebrate the 100th anniversary. They point to members helping keep the club and the unique course going all those years as the game evolved.

“The golf balls definitely go a lot farther, greens are generally faster, but technology has made golf different but also more enjoyable for a lot of people,” said the club’s Steve Hosazk.

“It’s a great achievement. It’s certainly an exciting milestone for our members. People have been here 40, 50, 60 years, which is pretty remarkable,” said Israel Maynard, a club member from South Burlington.

There are some public events, including charity tournaments, planned throughout the year.
