ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Downtown St. Albans is the place to be this weekend for all things maple.
The 57th Vermont Maple Festival kicked off Friday and runs through the weekend.
Dozens of vendors are offering up maple creemees, doughnuts, cotton candy, and of course, plenty of syrup.

And for one happy couple, Maple Fest also crowned their sappy love story. Jackie Shappy and Susan Johnson said “I do” at the festival Friday afternoon.
The sweeties’ story runs deep. They met in 1986 and say they knew they had something special. After a few years, life happened and they went their separate ways.
But the couple reconnected five years ago and decided to tie the knot at a ceremony in Taylor Park. They plan to host a bigger event with family and friends later.
