BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Committee on Temporary Shelter is getting ready for its 35th annual COTS walk
Prep work was underway Friday in Burlington’s Battery Park where the event will be held on Sunday.
COTS officials say their shelters are full and their drop-in day station sees over 80 people a day. The 3.6-mile walk is a way to give participants the perspective of the route someone experiencing homelessness might take to access services.
“We kind of blend into the community. We don’t have a lot of signage. So, it’s a nice way to say, here’s where COTS is, here’s where the programs are,” said COTS’ Rebekah Mott.
