BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermonters hit the streets of Burlington for the 35th annual COTS Walk.

The walk raises money to support the hundreds depending on COTS for housing and homelessness prevention. Starting at Battery Park, around 2,000 walkers covered 3.6 miles through Burlington, stopping at COTS facilities along the way. Katherine Verman says she was inspired to walk after watching recent documentary “Just Getting By” highlighting Vermonters struggling with housing and food insecurity.

“I said I’m going to do something about it so I am,” Katherine Verman of Burlington said. “That’s what I’m here for. And I raised over $750 dollars!”

Nearly 3,300 Vermonters were experiencing homelessness as of January of 2023, according to the 2023 Point-in-Time Count.
