
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Families are out and about celebrating Mother’s Day.
“Mother’s Day is very special especially when you have children,” Milton resident Annette Carr said.
“Oh, the love is there, the love is really there right now,” Shelburne resident Emily Rosenberg said.
“Mothers do a great job, they have a tough job,” Milton resident Don Carr said.
Flower shops tell us that sales have been going through the roof.
“You know we wait all year for this, for this time. We’re 52 years old and this is what we wait for, and this is the crazy, crazy, crazy weekend of the year,” Chris Conant of Clauseen’s Florist, Greenhouse and Perennial Farm said.
Conant says they sell over 15,000 hanging baskets the week leading up to mother’s day.
“Just the fact that we are preparing all year long basically our whole year evolves around this week and this weekend,” he said.
To celebrate Mother’s Day — Double Tree held a brunch with about 300 people and each mother received a rose on their special day.
“They always love unconditionally no matter what,” South Burlington resident Liliana Rakovic said.
Mother of five — Liliana Rakovic — says she always wanted to be a mom and it’s a title she’s proud of.
“The love that you get in return for sure you know every day you go home like no matter how your day goes those are your people,” she said.
And her kids reciprocate the love back.
“How supportive she is most of the time and how caring she is for all of her kids,” her son, Arman Burazerovic, said.
“I love how our mom takes care of us, she gives us whatever we want and how we love her so much,” her daughter, Amilia Yahyazadeh said.
And its a day of reflection to — Michelle Nadeau a mother of three — says she is excited to see her little ones grow up.
“I just love them and having the love back from them and watching them grow and see what they’re going to grow into and helping them guide them to be a good person,” Nadeau said.
And for some — they say it’s a reminder to always cherish those memories with mom.
“My mom’s been gone a long time, but she’s always been the head of our family,” Burlington resident Gary Farrell said.
