PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – A new logo was unveiled on Monday for this year’s Mayor’s Cup Festival & Regatta in Plattsburgh.
The annual event kicks off July 6 and will be split between the City Beach and the city’s marina.
Officials forecast a packed weekend filled with races, sailing and live music.
Monday morning, judges selected local high school senior Emily Whalen’s design as the official logo.
“I am I guess excited, happy, I did not think I would get chosen. I mean there was a chance I thought I was going to get top ten maybe, but I didn’t think I would get chosen,” said Whalen, a senior at NCSS.
Plattsburgh Mayor Chris Rosenquest says he hopes the Mayor’s Cup’s dual locations will help drive more people into the downtown.
