WILMINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a Connecticut man is dead after a boating accident in Vermont.
It happened Sunday afternoon on the Harriman Reservoir in Wilmington.
Police say a motorboat struck an underwater object, likely a rock, which caused the vessel to turn sharply, ejecting both passengers.
Nearby boaters were able to pull the two victims from the water. However, police say Thomas Centinaro, 67, of Wolcott, Connecticut, was unconscious and not breathing at that time. He was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of his death is still being investigated.
The second victim was not injured.
Neither person was wearing a life jacket.
