SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont and New York law enforcement agencies are teaming up to promote their Buckle Up campaign.
Officials from various law enforcement departments met at the Vermont Air National Guard on Tuesday in their effort to promote seat belt safety.
Tuesday marks the second week of their Buckle Up campaign as they make their way around the state.
With the start of the busy summer travel season, they remind people to buckle up, no matter the circumstance.
“Regardless of whether it is a primary law or secondary law, we want to encourage everyone to get in the habit if you are not already of always wearing your seat belt simply because it is the right thing to do. Buckling up as you have heard already here today is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash,” said Paul White of the Vermont State Highway Safety Office.
An F-35 aircraft was at the base, which officials used to illustrate the importance of buckling up in the air and on the ground.
