HYDE PARK, Vt. (WCAX) – A familiar face will take the helm at the Lamoille County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Governor Phil Scott Tuesday appointed Aliena Gerhard to the role. She’s already been doing the job, having stepped up to fill in since December after former state’s attorney Todd Shove resigned.

Shove has been the top prosecutor since 2018 and won re-election in 2022. But in a letter to the governor, he said the job was too demanding and took a toll on his and his family’s life.

Gerhard’s term will go through January 2027.
