Decision on Woodstock Union High School plans postponed

WOODSTOCK, Vt. (WCAX) – A decision on the future plan for Woodstock Union High School has been postponed.

The aging school needs a complete systems overhaul, but a previous bond vote to build a new facility failed on Town Meeting Day.

Now, district officials say that because of uncertainty in Montpelier surrounding school funding, they are delaying a decision on whether to rebuild or fix the current facility.

They say at this point, a new bond is not realistic and the state will need to contribute funding to any plan moving forward.

The Commission on the Future of Public Education has been formed to take a close look at capital projects across the state.
