Montpelier distillery celebrates Pollinator Week

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – A Montpelier distillery is celebrating National Pollinator Week by reminding Vermonters to support bees.

Barr Hill, which was founded by a beekeeper and uses raw honey in many of its products, is hosting events all week that encourage visitors to learn more about pollinators.

Their efforts aren’t limited to this week, though. A native plant garden in front of the distillery shows visitors how easy it is to attract and support pollinators of all kinds.

“Our grocery store, our schools, our backyards, our garden, there really isn’t any environment within this whole ecosystem that we and bees are part of that doesn’t depend on pollinators,” said the distillery’s Ryan Christiansen.

He says a new state law banning pesticide-treated seeds is an important step forward for the state to protect its pollinators.
