BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The King Street Center Lemonade Stand — a Church St. Marketplace institution — is getting a fresh start.
The nonprofit teaches work and life skills to middle schoolers. For 23 years, the stand stood on Church Street, but starting Tuesday, it’s based outside the Echo Leahy Center.
The kids running the stand say the new location is much calmer. “On Church Street, there’s more people and bigger lines,” said Asha Moge, 12.
“I feel like this doesn’t have as many people bothering us, but Church Street does have more foot traffic,” said Maryam Auayle, 15.
King St, officials say the old location required a tedious push uphill for the cart and that at Echo, there are more families.
