Town board shoots down proposed St. Albans quarry

ST. ALBANS TOWN, Vt. (WCAX) – A proposed quarry in St. Albans has been shot down by the town board.

The board denied an application from developer S.D. Ireland.

The proposed Kellogg Road quarry would have run trucks up and down the road six days a week with upward of 120 daily round trips. Work at the site would include blasting, processing and stockpiling rock for 15 years.

Some residents and town officials had raised concerns regarding the proposed quarry’s impact on wildlife, traffic and wear and tear on the roads.
