NY police arrest 7 Customs and Border Protection officers in larceny scheme

RAY BROOK, N.Y. (WCAX) – New York police on Tuesday arrested three current and four former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers after an investigation into a grand larceny scheme.

New York State Police say while serving as executive board members of the National Treasury Employees Union, the suspects misappropriated money from both federal accounts and union funds for their own personal benefit. Troopers say they did so by double-billing both organizations for official travel and taking cash advances.

Six are charged with felonies and one with a misdemeanor.

Police identified the suspects as:

  • Thomas O’Keefe – Arrested for Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • Joseph McVey – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Jamie Goheens – Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • Roy Arndt – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Michael Lacey – Grand Larceny 4th (Felony)
  • Craig Mothersell – Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony)
  • David Murtagh – Petit Larceny (Misdemeanor)
