Remaining power outages will be slow to reconnect

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Dozens of households in Washington County that lost power due to the flooding are still out and could be through the weekend.

Officials at the Washington Electric Co-op say 28 households in the county are in the dark, mostly in Middlesex, Moretown and Plainfield.

They say it could take until Sunday to get the lights back on because crews need to either create entirely new lines or wait for washouts to clear.

At noontime Friday, about 90 households across the state are still without power.

At a news briefing by state officials Friday morning, Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Jennifer Morrison warned that remaining outages would likely take longer than usual to repair.
