ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – After shots rang out at a Trump rally over the weekend, New York law enforcement is on high alert.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul condemned the likely assassination attempt and said New Yorkers are feeling anxiety about the future and their own safety.
Hochul says that right after the shooting, she directed the state intelligence center to monitor social media and the joint terrorism task force to work with federal law enforcement agencies.
She also said they are monitoring high-profile locations that could be potential targets.
“It’s absolutely critical that everyone, regardless of your ideology or affiliation, can peacefully express your political views without fear of violence,” said Hochul.
Hochul said that being American supersedes whatever party you affiliate with in the voting booth.
