WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Police have identified the two troopers in an officer-involved shooting in Burke over the weekend that left a Rhode Island man critically injured.
Vermont State Police say Sgt. Joshua Mikkola and Tpr. Richard Berlandy are both assigned to the Derby barracks.
Troopers say the man who was shot, Brendan Sackal, 30, had a warrant for his arrest out of Rhode Island. After a 60-mile chase, they say he fired a gun at police when they tried to arrest him, and two troopers returned fire, injuring him.
At last check, Sackal was in critical condition but was expected to survive.
