BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s Republican governor reacted on Tuesday to the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump.
Gov. Phil Scott offered his condolences to the family of the man who was killed in the shooting at the former president’s rally on Saturday. And he said now is the time for the country to unite.
“We can have political disagreements but this is not the way to solve them. So we should take stock in that. Both parties, all parties should think about this as a point, as a time when we come together as a country, and tone this down,” said Scott, R-Vermont.
Tuesday is the second night of the Republican National Convention. Among the scheduled speakers is North Country Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.
