Higher Ground says Burton pulled plug on South End move

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – An apparent reversal in a plan to move a popular music venue to Burlington’s South End.

We told you last week how the Vermont Supreme Court sided with Burton and Higher Ground, clearing the way to move the concert venue from South Burlington to the snowboard company’s South End campus. The case centered around concerns from neighbors over safety and noise.

In a surprise twist on Wednesday, Higher Ground said on Instagram that Burton changed their plans.

“We are deeply disheartened that Burton has decided to change direction in their plans for the building we were to occupy,” said the post. “This has resulted in a significant loss of time and resources for Higher Ground.”

The music venue says that they remain committed to boosting Burlington’s music scene and are still looking for a venue to bring performances to the area.
