PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – More than 100 pieces from iconic New York artist Rockwell Kent are now on display at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Burke Gallery.
Kent’s works were donated 50 years ago to the college and are normally housed in the Rockwell Kent Gallery. That’s closed for renovations until the fall, so now there’s a new exhibit inside the John Myers building.
It consists of nearly all black and white prints which Tonya Cribb, the director of the Plattsburgh State Art Museum, says were Kent’s way of creating “affordable art” for families across America.
“For our local people that really enjoy Rockwell Kent’s work but haven’t been to the gallery in a while, this is a great opportunity to see some things they might not have seen before because they haven’t been displayed yet,” Cribb said.
