3 charged in murder of woman whose body was hidden in toolbox

TROY, Vt. (WCAX) – Three men now face charges in a Northeast Kingdom killing. One is now charged with first-degree murder and two face accessory to murder charges in the 2023 murder of Kayla Wright, 29, of Derby.

Wright was found in a large toolbox in the Missisquoi River in Troy back in February. She had been shot to death.

Now, WCAX News has learned that three people are facing charges in her death.

Investigators say Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 24, of Hartford, Connecticut, was the triggerman. He’s already in prison on drug charges.

And police say two Vermont men got rid of Wright’s body. They have been identified as Aaron Camp, 34, of Derby, and Terron “Josh” Pendleton, 34, of Waterbury.

Investigators say Keith shot Wright three times because she threatened to go to police about his drug dealing business.

Camp and Pendleton face charges of accessory to murder and the charge against Keith was elevated Wednesday afternoon to first-degree murder.

Both Camp and Pendleton took the 24-hour rule and did not enter pleas in court on Wednesday. They’re due back in front of a judge on Thursday.
