Police shut down several streets and set up a perimeter during the hourslong incident.

Neighbors described a tense scene.

“From what we’ve been seeing, that house has been fine. They have had a lot of work done. There’s never commotion, it’s been quiet. It’s a quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, I think he just had a really bad day,” said Christina McSweeney of Richmond.

Vermont State Police said the suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon.

We’re told that Hinesburg police are leading the investigation.
