RICHMOND, Vt. (WCAX) – A shooting involving a mother and son in Richmond led to a police standoff that ended with the alleged shooter in handcuffs.
Police were called to a home on Meadow Lane in Richmond a little before noon for a domestic dispute, but the situation unraveled into a shooting and an arrest.
The suspect, identified as Dylan Davis, 23, was arrested following a nearly three-hour standoff.
Neighbors told us gunfire rang out and a police officer rushed two people away from the home a few hours before the arrest. We’re told one of those people was the suspect’s mother. She was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to her arm.
Police shut down several streets and set up a perimeter during the hourslong incident.
Neighbors described a tense scene.
“From what we’ve been seeing, that house has been fine. They have had a lot of work done. There’s never commotion, it’s been quiet. It’s a quiet neighborhood. Unfortunately, I think he just had a really bad day,” said Christina McSweeney of Richmond.
Vermont State Police said the suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon.
We’re told that Hinesburg police are leading the investigation.
