Vt. Democrats “hopeful” to gain control of U.S. House in 2024

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – U.S. Congresswoman Becca Balint says having Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of the presidential ticket, could shift the balance of power for Democrats.

Republicans currently hold a slim majority in U.S. Congress with 219 seats to Democrats’ 213.

Some Democrats in swing districts had feared that President Joe Biden could drag them down after the presidential debate.

But Congresswoman Balint says that as Vice President Harris collects endorsements from across the democratic caucus, including from moderate democrats in swing states, she is feeling more hopeful.

“You see an energy and enthusiasm not just in one particular group in the caucus,” Rep. Balint said. “It really cuts across the wide political ideological swath in the caucus and i think that bodes well.”

Rep. Balint is one of Vermont’s superdelegates and says she plans to cast her vote for Harris at the Democratic National Convention next month.
