Balint visits North Hero to discuss water upgrades

NORTH HERO, Vt. (WCAX) – Federal funding will help secure clean water access for residents in the North Hero.

Representative Becca Balint visited North Hero on Thursday morning to discuss the half-million dollars she helped secure to improve reliable, safe water access in the town.

It will go toward building an elevated water storage tank that will serve as a backup water source and prevent disruption of service. were

North Hero Town Clerk Corinn Julow says breaks in the current system force the entire town to shut off the water. “People were upset to lose water, but most impacted were our local businesses who rely very heavily on summer traffic, especially big lifetime events like weddings, and we’re concerned about reputation and reliability and being able to be active and stay in business in North hero without a reliable water system,” she said.

The entire project is expected to cost about $1.8 million.
