BURKE, Vt. (WCAX) – After a long week of recovery the non-profit Kingdom Trails is finally back open.
Like many in the Northeast Kingdom the organization’s trail network got hit hard in the month of July with the flooding. They have had many visitors over the weekend but want people to know the best way to get to all the trails is through darling hill between burke and Lyndon. Officials say the majority of the trails are open but bikers should tread lightly as some areas may be a little wet.
Kingdom Trails says in the future when building new trails they will keep the flooding in mind to make trails more resilient.
“I think what we probably will continue to do is maintain and build trails in the most sustainable way. We know how to build them, so that they don’t erode. Over all, we have really sustainable trails. If we do build more trails we will make sure they are built properly, as we always have,” said Lilias Ide of Kingdom Trails.
Officials say if people would like to volunteer with trail clean up reach out to Kingdom Trails.
