Law enforcement works to prevent impaired driving ahead of Labor Day

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – From Friday through September 2, law enforcement is partnering with federal agencies to increase high-visibility enforcement.

Authorities are working with the Vermont Agency of Transportation to urge drivers to drive sober and plan ahead as the holiday weekend nears.

Last year, 56% of all fatal car crashes involved an impaired driver, which killed 42 people.

Leaders say drivers can stay safe by planning ahead, finding a designated driver, or calling a friend, family member, or ride-share to get home.
