VA grant aims to help homeless veterans access legal services

SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont Law and Graduate School has received a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide civil legal services to veterans who may experience homelessness.

The Veterans Legal Assistance Program at the school is staffed by one full-time attorney, along with a fellow who specializes in housing insecurity issues, and second and third-year law students who work directly with clients.

John McMahon spoke with Don Hayes, the director of the program, about how it works.
