PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Plattsburgh authorities say one person died in an early morning shooting Tuesday and that persons of interest are in custody.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the area of Cornelia Street. Plattsburgh Police say the victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
State and local police cordoned off the area and by 7:30 had surrounded the possible suspects. Police say the say the suspects were taken into custody without incident. Neither the names of the suspects nor the victim have been released.
Police say the area is still under active investigation but that they believe there is no threat to the community.
CVPH officials confirmed the hospital was under lockdown as a precaution but that it has since been lifted.
Police are expected to provide more details at a briefing Tuesday afternoon.
