ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. (WCAX) – As fall and winter approach, you may be thinking about how to get outside, enjoy the foliage, snow and have fun.
The University of Vermont Elizabethtown Community Hospital wants to make sure you do it safely, so they’re holding free community health screenings from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17th in Elizabethtown and on Wednesday, September 18th in Ticonderoga. Hospital staff will check blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, oxygen, vision, EKG readings and more. All of it is completely free to everyone, whether you have insurance or not.
Amanda Whishler, director of quality and community benefits at the hospital, says they’re doing it to support the community.
“This is a way that we can give back to make sure that we are taking care of them, not only when they need us, but prior to them needing us. It’s a way to really look at their health prior to them having a medical emergency.” said Whishler
It’s a stance many in the health care innovation industry are continuing to advocate for. Advocates say an investment in preventative health care and wellness eases the economic and physical burden on hospital systems and creates a healthier society.
