Vermont kids invited to compete in student fish art contest

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Do you have a favorite fish? You might want to turn it into an art piece!

Vermont students can compete in the 2025 Vermont Student Fish Art Contest. It’s being put on by the Fish and Wildlife Department and Wildlife Forever.

Students can submit an illustration of a fish species along with a one-page creative essay on the species. The essay isn’t required for the youngest kids.

Winners will be picked from four grade categories: K through third, fourth through sixth, seventh through ninth, and 10th through 12th graders.

Winners get a new rod and reel, and their art could be picked for the 2026 fishing guide.

Entries can be submitted now until Feb. 28. Click here for all the rules and information on the contest.
