Man accused of strangulation in domestic dispute

FORT COVINGTON, New York (WWNY) – A Rooseveltown man is accused of strangling someone during a domestic dispute in the town of Fort Covington last Wednesday.

State police say 45-year-old Nathan Benedict allegedly hit the victim and placed his hands around their throat, causing them to not be able to breathe.

Benedict allegedly stopped choking the victim and left. Troopers found him in some bushes and took him into custody.

He was charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

Benedict was arraigned in Bombay town court and released under probation supervision.
