Walmart to move into Rutland’s Diamond Run Mall

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Walmart plans to relocate its existing Rutland store to the former Diamond Run Mall.

The company announced Tuesday that it will be moving its current location on Shopping Plaza Road in order to build a supercenter, creating 100 full and part-time jobs.

Walmart says they submitted plans to the Rutland Selectboard and hope to start the Act 250 approval process.

The Diamond Run Mall closed in November 2019. Officials have previously said their goal is to redevelop portions of the former shopping center, including an anchor store and potentially a hotel.

The Walmart Supercenter is slated to open in 2027.
