WOODSTOCK, Vt. (WCAX) – Police in Woodstock are warning hikers about a fox seen in the Mount Tom area that may be rabid.
Police and the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park have gotten multiple reports in the last two days of an aggressive fox approaching people by the Faulkner Trail on Mount Tom.
They suspect the fox has rabies due to its reported behavior.
Visitors are urged to keep their distance from all wildlife and keep all pets leashed.
Anyone who encounters wildlife behaving aggressively or rabidly near Mount Tom or in the park is urged to notify the police at 802-457-2337 or park staff at 802-457-3368. Anyone who comes in contact with such an animal should seek medical attention.
