Man arrested after break-in at Martha's Community Kitchen

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – A man is in jail after a break-in at a community kitchen in St. Albans.

Police say on Tuesday at around 12:20 a.m. they got a call from a key holder at Martha’s Community Kitchen in St. Albans City reporting a burglary.

Martha’s Community Kitchen is a nonprofit that provides warm meals to those in need.

When officers responded they found someone had broken a window to enter the building and had already fled the scene… but security cameras captured the suspect responsible.

Officers identified the suspect as 41-year-old Victor Velez and took him into custody Wednesday afternoon.

St. Albans Police say Velez has had over 20 police contacts with SPAD this year.
