Vt. lawmakers demand governor address homelessness

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont lawmakers are calling on Gov. Phil Scott to do more to address homelessness.

Some 91 legislators– more than half of all Vermont lawmakers– signed onto a letter demanding the governor declare a state of emergency, create emergency shelters and fund temporary housing for the most vulnerable.

In response, the Scott administration says the changes in the emergency housing program were approved by the Legislature during the previous session.
