Police: Asleep-at-the-wheel driver caused Hinesburg crash

HINESBURG, Vt. (WCAX) – Two people were sent to the hospital with injuries following a crash in Hinesburg Thursday morning.

It happened on Silver Street near Lewis Creek Road, Vermont State Police say Hunter Gorton, 20, of Bristol, was headed north on Silver Street and fell asleep, causing him to veer out of his lane and sideswipe a pickup coming in the other direction. Both Gordon and the other driver were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say neither driver showed signs of impairment.

The street was closed between 6 and 7 a.m.
