Ski jumpers fly at Flaming Leaves Festival

LAKE PLACID, NY. (WCAX) – Lake Placid held its annual Flaming Leaves Festival on Sunday.

Held at the town’s Olympic jumping complex, the festival celebrates the fall foliage and athletics.

The highlight of the event was ski jumping, featuring 50 athletes from Canada, Norway, and the U.S.

Visitors from all over flocked to Lake Placid for the fun.

“It’s funner than on TV. We’re big Olympian fans, especially winter, because in Canada, we’re good in the Winter Olympics. It was fun to see them jump and there was no wind today. It was fun to see the distance, 126 meters, and everything, so yeah, we were really happy with that,” Alexandre Ouellet of Rigaud, Canada said.

There were plenty of activities for kids, too, including bouncy house games, magic tricks, and face painting.
