ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s first-ever tattoo convention is back.
The Rail City Tattoo Festival was the first of its kind in Vermont. The convention is in its second year.
Over 40 tattoo artists from all over the country came to St. Albans to show off their ink skills.
Over fifteen hundred people went to the event, many getting a tattoo at the convention.
Tattooists say events like this encourage others to join the tattoo community.
“I have been tattooing for almost twenty years. For years I felt like I was not part of the community. So for the first time in a decade, I felt like I had peers and friends. I got to know people. We have mutual respect for each other. That was amazing and it gave me hope for the industry in Vermont again,” Brant Newton of 181 Tattoo said.
Organizers Jhon and Jodi Rodriguez are already planning for next year.
