Vt. State Police head south to aid in hurricane response

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Members of the Vermont State Police are helping with hurricane recovery efforts down south.

At the end of last month, Hurricane Helene ripped through the Southeast, causing extensive damage to communities across Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Now, five members of the state police are in Newton, North Carolina, supporting local law enforcement there in providing safety and security.

The Vermont team includes Lt. Thomas Mozzer, Sgt. Christian Hunt, Tprs. Clay Knight and Zachary Trocki, and K-9 Loki.

They’re expected to be there until the end of the month.
