MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – 2 people are in jail Thursday night after using a knife in a fight involving more than a dozen others and trying to hide the evidence.

Montpelier police say just after 3:20 p.m., they received multiple reports of an ongoing altercation involving a knife and over a dozen people. They say it happened on the bike path along Shaw’s supermarket on Main Street in. Police also say witnesses identified the armed suspect as 45-year-old Teiontay Braxton.

They say Braxton had been displaying violent behavior in the public space which led to a fight in which Braxton brandished a knife.

Officers say an acquaintance of Braxton’s, 45-year-old Jessica Atwood took the knife and hid it in a nearby storm drain.

Braxton and Atwood were both taken in and are being held on $6,000 and $5,000 bail respectively
