New upgrades planned for Mount Van Hoevenberg

LAKE PLACID, Vt. (WCAX) – New upgrades are being proposed for Lake Placid’s Mount Van Hoevenberg.

Officials with the Olympic Regional Development Authority say they want to upgrade the site’s historic track, which includes roof and shade structures, as well as a new operations building.

For summer sports, they are looking at infrastructure for mountain biking.

“We continue to see new events like the Mountain Bike World Cup looking to come to Lake Placid because of the work that has been done and the support of the state of New York, and so this is just a continuation of that process to make sure our venues stay top notch and ready to host whatever comes next,” said ORDA’s Rebecca Dayton.

The Adirondack Park Agency is seeking public comments on the proposed changes through November 25.
