Stafford Tech Center gets $200K boost from GE

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Stafford Technical Center in Rutland is getting a boost to help train students entering the manufacturing workforce.

Senator Peter Welch and representatives of GE Aerospace toured the center Wednesday. It comes as GE is set to donate $200,000 to help the school purchase two new manufacturing machines to help train students preparing to enter the workforce.

“Extremely important for us to be thinking about technical skills, how do we invest, how do we bolster up the community,” said the company’s Dan Shelley.

“There’s a lot of manufacturers in Vermont and in Rutland County who are going to benefit by the students who are going to be using these machines that are absolutely essential for you to get the education you need,” Welch said.

About 100 students will be able to train on the new machines before graduating.
